Summary:

The Veterinary Assistant provides support to veterinarians in the healthcare and medical industry through animal healthcare and treatment management. They are responsible for cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment, preparing animals for surgery, administering medicine, collecting samples, monitoring vital signs, maintaining animal records, and updating stock lists of supplies and medications. The role requires strong interpersonal skills and physical demands, and candidates must have previous experience in animal healthcare and hold a certification or Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science, Biology, or related fields.

Responsibilities:

• Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
• Prepare animals for surgery
• Support the veterinarian in surgical procedures
• Administer medicine
• Collect blood, urine, stool, or other samples
• Monitor and record vital signs of animals
• Maintain animal records
• Prepare and update stock lists of supplies and medications

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in animal healthcare
• Deep understanding of various animal species' physiological and psychological characteristics
• Certification or Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science, Biology, or related fields
• Compassionate and detail-oriented
• Able to handle the physical demands of the role, including lifting and restraining large and small animals
• Strong interpersonal skills as the first point of contact for pet owners and questions
