Overview:


The Medical Assistant (MA) position would work during the current hours of operation.


The addition of the requested staff would make available the site Registered Nurses (RN) from a trainable task, to being available to engage in the case management of occupational injuries and Short-term & Long-term disability cases, assistance with personal illness of site employees, and assisting in the timely management of return-to-work processes.


Health Services would like to request adding an MA to the daytime operating hours to assist with mandated compliance testing. The MA would work under the direction of the Health Services Provider (RN, NP, PA, MD) as required by state law. The MA would be instructed on how to complete successful audiogram testing by CAOHC trained staff who would review each test until the MA can attend the CAOHC training class, where after successful completion of the course would receive their CAOHC certification. In addition, the MA would be instructed how to perform Respiratory fit testing, and UDS collection for the random drug testing program.



Responsibilities:


Perform audiograms, respirator fit testing, and drug test specimens to support site medical surveillance programs.

Prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the testing rooms: audiogram testing, respiratory fit testing, & urine drug collection.

Perform vital signs and data collection for preliminary physical tests, i.e., blood pressure, height and weight, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and temperature, report patient history summary.

Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records.

Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

Maintain medical supplies through stock inventory, placing orders, and verifying receipt of goods.

Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, scheduled calibration checks, and assisting in calling/scheduling for needed repairs.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, CAOHC certification, Spirometry certification.

Complete records by recording patient vitals, treatment, and test results in Cority.

Qualifications:


Proven working experience as a Medical Assistant or medical secretary.

Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures.

Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Social perceptiveness and service oriented.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and planning skills.

Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.

Degree in medical assistance.
