Data Scientist Intern (Remote)

Job Description

The Data Scientist Intern will work with the Data Platform team to research and develop cloud-based data management solutions for our Systems. You will utilize a variety of technologies to provide a scalable, reliable foundation for organizations to store, process, and analyze large volumes of data.

In this role, you will:

Learn to design and build data pipelines for common business use cases

Develop and maintain data processing workflows

Design and develop data visualizations

Learn and apply machine learning techniques to data analysis

Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement

Research and implement best practices for data governance and security

Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing activities to ensure that the team's work is well documented and accessible to others

Participate in sprint planning and agile development processes

Minimum requirements for the role:

Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in engineering, computer science or related field (3.0+ GPA)

Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala

Familiarity with query languages such as SQL or KQL

Understanding of data structures and algorithms

Interest in data engineering and data analysis

Strong technical aptitude and desire for continuous learning

Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail

An ideal candidate also has:

Hands-on expertise with SQL for use in data access, discovery and analysis

Experience with data modeling and data architecture

Ability to design and implement scalable, efficient data pipelines and workflows

Understanding of machine learning concepts and tools

Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform

Experience with Databricks, H20, Power BI, Tableau

Skills
