Engineer - I - Firmware Test Engineer

Job Description

Firmware Test Engineer having 1-5 years of experience and a proven track record in embedded product hardware or software testing for iOT /Avionics/ robotics/ mission/safety-critical systems.

·        The position is responsible for the creation of test plan / design and environment setup, assistance in the black box software, firmware testing.

·        Thorough testing of functional and non-functional requirements

·        Develop test automation script or framework (C++/Python/Java or Any scripting language) and own Product and Software quality assurance.

KEY SHARED ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·     Conduct embedded product testing: Design and execute test procedures to verify the functionality, performance, and reliability of hardware components, such as flight control systems, sensors, payload, communication devices, power systems, and other subsystems.

·     Perform functional and performance testing: Conduct tests to ensure that iOT / Embedded components meet design specifications, functional requirements, and performance targets. Evaluate the system’s behavior under normal and extreme operating conditions in the LAB or in the Field.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications. Aid develop Product specifications with attention to safety criticality, robustness & reliability, extendibility & flexibility.

·       Explore selection of the most effective test design techniques, advance V&V tools and approaches for a problem or conducting performance testing.

·       Develop use cases, test cases, and test scripts for applications, configurations, and interfaces for all common SDLC test phases including FIT/SIT, UAT, regression, performance testing (throughput, timing constraints, processing time) and security testing.

·       Perform testing activities as per standard V&V practices and Quality Assurance

·       Ensures timely delivery and quality of the deliverables for the assigned work.

·       Understand IP & trademark policies and actively promote safe practices in projects having quite a bit of R&D.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATION

• Degree in Electrical / Electronics & Communication / Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent
• Proven experience in testing iOT/ Embedded product Firmware, UAV/avionics features or software applications, black box, smoke, regression, stress/volume, alpha, beta, automation testing, implementation of test automation framework, scripts development and maintenance
• Embedded Product Testing Skills:
• Strong understanding of Black box /iOT/ Product / HW testing methodologies, techniques, and best practices.
• Experience with test equipment and tools such as flasher, oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and power supplies.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and scripting languages is a plus.
• Knowledge of Drone Hardware:
• Understanding of UAV hardware components and systems, including flight control systems, sensors (e.g., GPS, IMU), communication devices, power systems, and payload integration.
• Familiarity with drone architectures, protocols, and interfaces is a Plus
• Knowledge on Avionics standards for Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification - DO-178B/CEMILAC would be an added advantage.
