JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for managing and optimizing assembly line operations to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production. The role requires hands-on involvement in lean manufacturing, process improvement, troubleshooting, line balancing, quality assurance, operator multiskilling, and coordination with cross-functional teams to achieve production targets. Key responsibilities include driving process improvements and sustaining existing processes, delivering DL training, and enhancing workforce skills on both new and existing operations. The position also supports Manufacturing and Quality Engineering in implementing new equipment and process changes through the ECN system. Additional responsibilities include executing equipment and process qualifications, SPC, Poka-Yoke, preparation and approval of SOPs, Work Instructions, Job Cards, and setup validations. The role further involves implementing quality systems on assembly cells, driving small automation initiatives, and achieving cycle time improvements.
This position is responsible for managing production activities on assembly line(s) by implementing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce cycle time, and minimize waste and defects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage daily production responsibilities for assigned assembly line(s) and shifts.
- Ensure adherence to quality system procedures, delivery commitments, and production targets.
- Analyse issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Apply lean manufacturing tools and concepts to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
- Optimize assembly line setups to maximize throughput and maintain consistent product quality.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing/Quality Engineering to support product development and process changes.
- Provide guidance, on-the-job training, and multiskilling opportunities for operators and technicians.
- Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing sequences, specifications, equipment, and process requirements for new and existing products.
- Support new product development as a manufacturing representative in cross-functional teams.
- Prepare and implement Manufacturing Flow Charts, Standard Work, Control Plans, FMEAs, SOPs, Work Instructions, Job Cards, and Setup approvals in line with ISO and company standards.
- Execute changes and improvements through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.
- Actively participate in new assembly line setups and layout modifications.
- Coordinate and handle customer audits, process audits, and quality system audits.
- Drive small automation projects and cycle time reduction initiatives.
- Apply structured problem-solving tools such as 5W-1H, 5-Why, Fishbone, and other troubleshooting methods.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATION
Degree holder in Electrical/Electronics/mechatronics with experience 4-6 yrs. (minimum 1-2 Years of experience in mass manufacturing / assembly of functional products)
