Job Description
Overview:
As the Lab Manager for the Prototype Lab within the Research and Development (R&D) Unit of our Drone Technology division, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lab, managing a team of researchers and technicians, and ensuring the
successful development and testing of drone prototypes. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to drive innovation in drone technology.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lab Operations Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the Prototype Lab, ensuring a smooth workflow, efficient resource allocation, and adherence to safety
protocols.
Maintain and organize the lab space, equipment, and tools to facilitate optimal working conditions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align lab activities with overall project goals and timelines.
2. Team Leadership:
Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team of technicians.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging idea exchange and continuous learning.
Provide guidance and support for team members, helping them overcome challenges and achieve project milestones.
Identifying training requirements of the technicians and conducting the required training.
3. Project Management:
Develop and execute prototyping plans, ensuring that prototypes are developed within specified timelines.
Collaborate with R&D leadership to define project objectives.
Monitor and report on prototype progress, addressing any deviations from the plan promptly.
4. Technical Expertise:
Stay abreast of the latest developments in drone technology and related fields.
Provide technical guidance to the team, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to the development of innovative solutions.
Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and experts to leverage additional technical insights.
5. Quality Assurance:
Implement rigorous quality control processes to ensure the reliability and functionality of drone prototypes.
Develop and maintain testing protocols, collaborating with the V&V(verification & validation) team to address any identified issues.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of experiments, prototypes, and testing results.
Generate comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders and assist in preparing documentation.
7. Inventory Management & Stock Control
Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, including stock tracking and rotation.
To conduct the monthly inventory Audit to verify inventory accuracy & minimize discrepancies.
To conduct the quarterly cycle count to check & confirm the inventory status.
Manage & oversee stock counts, reconciling variances, and taking corrective actions.
8. Procurement:
To coordinate with store for the PR raised.
Material inward & outward management.
GRN filling of the material received from the external vendors.
9. Storage management:
Oversee the organization & cleanliness of storage facilities.
Optimize storage space utilization and ensure efficient material handling.
10. Reporting & analysis:
To get the material disposition requests filled for the crashed/disposed products.
Work order preparation & Product posting of the released products in SAP.
SAP transactions for the consumed products on the monthly basis with consultation with finance.
Monthly analysis report of R&D inventory.
Qualifications:
Bachelor& or higher degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
Proven experience in a leadership role within an R&D or prototype lab environment.
Strong background in drone technology, robotics, or a related field.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with relevant safety and compliance standards.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
10+ years experience person (~ I6 level).
Strong & Influential personality
Armed Forces veterans could be a good option.
Skills
