Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Project Manager specializing in Mechanical or Aerospace disciplines to lead the Product Development and Sustenance initiatives for ideaForge products. The successful candidate will oversee the product development and Sustenance lifecycle, from the concept to development and final handover to the manufacturing team. This role requires a strong mechanical design background, mature project management practices, and the ability to drive learning and growth within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Product Development Leadership: Manage the end-to-end product development process, ensuring smooth transitions from the preconception phase to final design handover.
• Project Monitoring & Reporting: Create and present a consistent project monitoring dashboard, covering parameters such as cost, resources, status, risk, and projections, for stakeholder review and informed decision-making.
• Technical Expertise: Leverage a strong mechanical or aerospace design background to actively participate in technical discussions and contribute to the development of innovative engineering solutions.
• Reliability Assurance and Control: Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions (CAPA) through innovative engineering solutions, and related reviews and reporting.
• Project Management Practices: Implement mature project management practices to drive the successful development of new products. Serve as the communication channel between R&D and management, highlighting risks and deploying mitigation plans.
• Team Leadership: Lead and motivate engineering teams, ensuring optimal performance and successful delivery of hardware products/components. Provide guidance on project tasks, identify risks, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Stakeholder Communication: Develop a stakeholder communication matrix, ensuring clear and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Risk Management: Identify project risks, maintain a risk register and risk cube, and monitor risks until closure.
• Project Planning: Create Gantt charts to represent project schedules, identify critical paths, and develop alternative execution plans to ensure on-time project completion.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• B.E. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (required)
• MBA and PMP certification (preferred)
• Experience:
• 10-15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in project management within the Aerospace & Defense industry, preferably in an AS 9100 certified company.
• Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams, including hiring, monitoring, and performance evaluation.
• Experience managing and delivering hardware products/components as a team leader or project manager.
• Comfortable delivering results in a fast-paced, evolving product development environment.

Skills:

• Strong mechanical/aerospace design and engineering expertise.
• Advanced project and technical management skills, including risk management, stakeholder communication, and project planning.
• Ability to create and manage project schedules using tools like Excel or MS Projects.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Hands-on leadership with the ability to motivate and guide engineering teams.

Additional Requirements:

• Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to escalate issues and delays, and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
• Strong analytical skills to identify critical paths and risks within projects.
