Job Description

We are seeking a Technician with a strong interest in battery prototyping, including tasks such as welding, soldering, mechanical assembly, configuration, and testing of battery cells. The technician will work alongside engineers and product developers in designing and assembling battery prototypes for various applications, ensuring the highest quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Battery Cell Welding: Perform precision welding of battery cells (e.g., spot welding) to create secure and reliable electrical connections, ensuring proper placement and alignment.
  • Soldering: Conduct soldering operations on small electrical components to connect wiring and battery management systems (BMS) with precision and care, ensuring no cold or weak joints.
  • Mechanical Assembly: Assemble battery packs and prototypes by fitting components such as cells, protective casings, wiring, and connectors. Ensure structural integrity and proper insulation.
  • Battery Configuration: Assist in configuring battery management systems, ensuring correct connections, voltage balancing, and protection systems are properly installed for optimal performance.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Perform electrical and performance tests on assembled battery packs to check for capacity, voltage, discharge rates, and temperature control. Use diagnostic equipment like multimeters, battery analyzers, and thermal cameras to validate performance.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and address issues related to welding, soldering, or configuration that impact battery performance. Repair or modify components as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all assembly, configuration, and testing procedures. Report results and findings to the engineering team.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to safety guidelines while working with batteries, soldering irons, welding equipment, and hazardous materials. Follow best practices in handling and disposing of lithium-ion and other battery chemistries.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with engineers to improve battery assembly processes, enhance product designs, and introduce new technologies to boost performance and efficiency.
