Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for performing UAV/S (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/System) flying log analysis, troubleshooting & problem solving, suggesting process/product improvements, minimizing the UAV testing time. As a UAV/S Flying Analyst, he/she will play a crucial role in the evaluation and optimization of UAV operations. He/she will utilize data and analytics to ensure safe, efficient, and effective UAV/S flights for a variety of applications, including surveying, surveillance, agriculture, mapping and more. He/she will be responsible for investigating and analyzing UAV accidents /crashes. This role requires a deep understanding of UAV technology, flight data analysis, and regulatory compliance.

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION & SPECIFC DELIVERABLES

 

Flight Data Analysis & Investigation:

1.     Collect and analyze data from UAV flights, including telemetry, GPS data, imagery, and sensor data.

2.     Collaborate with UAV operators to retrieve flight logs and data for analysis.

3.     Identify and report anomalies or irregularities in flight data that may affect UAV performance or safety.

4.     Conduct the Technical Troubleshooting of the UAV, examination of crash-related data, equipment, and circumstances to determine the root causes and contributing factors, including technical failures, pilot errors, environmental conditions, or other factors.

5.     Conduct detailed in-depth investigations of UAV accidents, incidents, and crashes. Gather evidence, witness statements, and any available data related to the crash.

6.     Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues related to UAV systems, sensors, and communication equipment.

7.     Examine software logs and maintenance records for potential issues or anomalies.

8.     Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash.

9.     Collaborate with technical teams to resolve hardware or software problems that may impact flight operations.

10. Create comprehensive reports summarizing UAV flight performance and analysis results.

11. Maintain detailed records of UAV flights, maintenance activities, and incident reports.

12. Monitor trends and patterns in UAV accidents to identify areas for continuous improvement in operations and technology.

 

Performance Optimization & Training and Education:

1.     Evaluate UAV flight performance and efficiency.

2.     Develop and implement strategies to optimize flight paths, payloads, and operational parameters.

3.     Suggest improvements to enhance UAV mission effectiveness and reduce operational costs.

4.     Improve UAV safety, prevent future UAV accidents, and enhance operational procedures.

5.     Develop training materials and programs & Provide training and guidance to UAV operators and other personnel involved in UAV operations.

6.     Educate staff on best practices for flight safety and data collection techniques.

7.     Collaborate with R&D teams to test and evaluate new UAV systems and software.

 

Safety Compliance:

1.     Ensure compliance with local and federal regulations governing UAV operations.

2.     Keep abreast of changes in UAV regulations and recommend adjustments to operational procedures as needed.

3.     Conduct safety assessments to minimize the risk of accidents or incidents during UAV operations.

 

Qualifications:

1.     Bachelor''s degree in a related field such as aerospace engineering, aviation management, & data science/analysist, UAV pilot

2.     Strong knowledge of UAV systems, including hardware, software, sensors, and communication equipment.

3.     Proficiency in data analysis tools and software and flight data analysis software.

4.     Excellent problem-solving skills.

5.     Experience in UAV flight analysis and accident investigation is highly beneficial.

6.     Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
