Job Description

Are you results driven, self motivated and a customer focused? Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, you will process the bi-weekly payroll and various payroll related documents. You will also prepare and input payroll calculations using applicable legislation, company policies and the collective agreement.

About the Role


  • Process bi-weekly payroll and various payroll related documents for hourly and salary employees, reconcile and adjust employee payroll results by entering payroll inputs if required.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, the collective agreement, company policy and procedures.
  • Check various payroll pre-processing reports prior to the pay close to ensure accuracy of all information, following up on discrepancies prior to close.
  • Work closely with AskHR, Total Rewards and managers to ensure accuracy and completeness of information to be entered into Workday.
  • Manage and prioritize work to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and all deadlines are met.
  • Monitor and recommend process improvement initiatives to increases effectiveness and productivity of department.
  • Process garnishments and ROEs ensuring compliance.

About You


  • Knowledge of Workday or other similar payroll/HR systems
  • Requires expertise in payroll/benefits as well as progressive, in-depth and current experience within a high-volume payroll environment
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of collective agreements, payroll legislation, and payroll procedures
  • Basic accounting knowledge needed to perform payroll functions.
  • Sound judgement, excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are vital.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to exercise initiative and function well in a tight deadline, multi-tasked environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, client service, collaboration, communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Prioritize work, manage time effectively and work well under pressure is essential.
  • Work independently and be a team player.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, Access, Word and Outlook is required.
