Job Description

Our client is hiring a Research Data Scientist to add resources for further developing its healthcare advocacy. This person is responsible for leading advanced analytics projects to transform data into meaningful insights that can


  • Advance the clients thought leadership and advocacy through white papers, publications, and presentations.
  • Be leveraged across the organization to support their growth and product innovation. You will report to the Chief Medical Officer and own the full life cycle of planning, execution, and dissemination. The ideal candidate will have worked in the digital health field or understand the use of technology-enabled solutions to prevent or manage chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory conditions.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and execute analytic studies using appropriate data sources, populations, and statistical methods. This may include database extraction, creation, and preparation.
  • Define and implement appropriate statistical methodologies for specific models or analyses to discover insights relevant to their solutions, stakeholder groups, and the broader digital health industry.
  • Develop and implement predictive models like decision tree and regression using R or similar analytic software.
  • Apply skill and domain knowledge to identify opportunities to contribute to the public domain, industry, and extant body of literature.
  • Partner with business leaders to articulate requirements for data analyses.
  • Communicate results and business impacts to stakeholders.
  • Generate white papers, reports, abstracts, and assist in manuscript preparation and submission.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
  • 10 years’ experience with data science and advanced analytics with proven record for delivery of data-driven insights.
  • 5 years’ experience with statistical software such as SAS, R, Stata, Python; expertise using SQL for acquiring and transforming data from relational databases, data processing, database programming and data analytics.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data management as well as experience with data aggregation and normalization.
  • Experience conducting analyses and building predictive models using SAS (or similar).
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java / Python (or “R”).
  • Experience conducting regression analyses.
  • Advanced MS Excel expertise (pivot tables, Vlookup, report filters, etc.)
  • Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to partner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience publishing in medical literature (Nice to have)
  • Experience with institutional review board process (Nice to have)
